Why a wall?

In 2005, a student sold a web page one pixel at a time and made a million dollars. Twenty years later, the internet remembers that page not for the ads on it, but because it was finished — a moment in time, sealed and kept.

This wall borrows that idea and gives it a better subject. Not ads — love notes. One million of them, written by anyone, to anyone: partners, parents, kids, friends, dogs, strangers, the versions of ourselves that needed to hear it.

When the last note is placed, the wall seals. No feed, no algorithm, no infinite scroll. Just proof, at internet scale, that we said it out loud while we could.

Questions, answered

Why one million notes?

Because scarcity is what makes it mean something. The wall has exactly 1,000,000 spots. Once the millionth note is written, the wall is sealed: nothing added, nothing removed, kept online as a permanent monument.

Are the founding notes real?

The wall opened with a heart of about four thousand founding notes so nobody ever lands on an empty page. Every one of them is an excerpt from a famous love letter or love story — Beethoven to his Immortal Beloved, Keats to Fanny Brawne, the Brownings, the Song of Solomon — each attributed to who really wrote it. Everything outside the founding heart was written by a real person, for a real person.

Why does it cost $1?

A dollar is small enough that anyone can leave a note on impulse, and just enough to keep the wall sincere — spam isn't worth a dollar, but "I love you" is. Every dollar also funds keeping the wall online, forever. Golden notes ($5) carry that promise further.

What can I write?

A love note — romantic, family, friendship, gratitude, grief, a note to your dog, a note to yourself. No links, no ads, no cruelty. Notes that aren't love get removed and refunded.

Can I edit or delete my note later?

No — permanence is the point. Read it twice before you place it. (We'll always remove genuinely harmful content, and you can use initials if you'd rather stay anonymous.)

Is my note public?

Yes, forever, to anyone who wanders past your spot. Every note gets its own share link, so you can send your person straight to it.

What happens when the wall is full?

The wall is sealed and archived — a million declarations of love, frozen in place. We plan to donate a share of the final proceeds to charities chosen by the community of note-writers.

Someone should get to read
what you never quite say.
